Our Vision
Saskatchewan credit unions share a common vision of building lives and fulfilling dreams. As locally-owned financial institutions, we take pride in investing in the dreams that help our members and communities thrive.
Credit unions have provided financial services to Saskatchewan members for more than 70 years and, throughout those years, have also played a meaningful role in supporting community social programs and economic development initiatives.
Growing Communities
Saskatchewan credit unions use their resources and network to help make dreams real for individuals and communities. Every year, we support a broad range of local and provincial initiatives that contribute to growing Saskatchewan communities.
In all corners of the province, credit unions sponsor educational initiatives, arts and culture programs, sports teams, health care, economic development projects and many other causes. We also provide gifts in kind for special events and reduce or waive service fees for thousands of community groups.
Over the past four years (2008 to 2011 figures combined): Saskatchewan credit unions contributed $26.6 million to growing communities; our fundraising efforts brought in nearly $2 million for causes like the Children's Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan, Red Cross Disaster Relief, Terry Fox Run and Telemiracle; and our employees logged more than 285,000 hours of volunteer time for community organizations.
Many credit unions also support causes outside their local communities. For example, when a disaster strikes, we become disaster relief collection points for the Canadian Red Cross. In 2011, Saskatchewan credit unions contributed $78,000 to international development projects to help co-operatives and credit unions in other countries.
For credit unions, growing Saskatchewan communities is both a responsibility and a privilege. Learn more about the events and initiatives we support and how to apply for sponsorship.
