REGINA, October 2, 2006 – Saskatchewan credit unions and the Saskatchewan Soccer Association
(SSA) are teaming up to provide an action packed family event – Soccerjam ’06. This free event will be held at the Credit Union Eventplex in Regina on November 4, 2006.
“As major sponsors of SaskSoccer, credit unions are pleased to be part of an event that promotes a healthy, physical lifestyle,” says Keith Nixon, credit union spokesperson. “This is an activity that everyone can benefit from.”
Soccerjam ’06 is all about having fun whether you’ve played soccer before or not. Children aged 4 to 16 are invited to register for a two hour skills session. Certified Saskatchewan Soccer coaches will guide participants through fun drills and an obstacle course where everyone can sharpen their skills or learn new ones to handle a soccer ball.
“‘Let’s Play’, is our new motto that we will be introducing for SaskSoccer and this is the perfect event and theme to launch the message of fun for players and parents,” says Kelly Skotnitsky, Executive Director of SaskSoccer.
The second part of Soccerjam ’06 is for adults age 18 and older who are interested in learning what it takes to become a soccer coach. If you’ve ever wondered about coaching a soccer team these special introductory sessions will tell you what you need to know. Certified SSA instructors will hold two hour introductory coaching clinics. Parents can sign up for the coaching session while their kids are on the field. Afterward, they can even try out their new found knowledge by joining the kids on the field and help to run them through some of drills.
